We are the Fit Body Farm Freestylers, Ayrshire’s specialist Obstacle Course Training and Event Group

At our HQ, just outside Kilmaurs we have a stunning venue with our own 20 obstacle, 2.5km course set up to teach you obstacle skills like how to efficiently climb a rope or traverse the monkey bars as well as coach you towards becoming fitter and stronger in a fun, encouraging environment.

Our Obstacle Course Training programmes will help you…

Get outdoors, re-discover your inner child – you’ll get to run, crawl, carry, climb, hang, jump, pull, push, throw, splash and slide your way around our obstacle zones.

Learn new skills and add purpose, variety and enjoyment to your training

Get better at running in a way that you forget about how challenging it feels because you’re having so much fun (many people who report they don’t like running, LOVE Obstacle Course Training).

Develop upper body strength so you can swing across monkey bars and climb over walls with ease.

Get fit and ready with your team mates for any event such as Tough Mudder, Spartan Race or any of the other 150 OCR events held around the UK.

PLUS you’ll be coached by one of Scotland and the World’s best OCR Athlete’s, Gavin Hogarth

Do you want to COMPLETE or COMPETE?

90% of people do obstacle course training and events to COMPLETE them, get a buzz from doing things they never thought they could, earn a fancy bit of bling (medal) and have great banter with their friends both on the course and in the bar afterwards, where legendary stories are shared.

10% of people do obstacle course training and events
to experience the same as that 90%, PLUS to also COMPETE, push themselves to their limits and get a buzz through challenging themselves against other athletes to finish as high up as they can.

Your week will include….

1 OCR Skills and Fitness session

    1 OCR Skills and Fitness session at the Fit Body Farm on a Saturday from 8.30am – 9.30am
  • check
    At this session you be coached on mastering obstacle technique, grip strength, muscle endurance and event simulation.

1 Full Body Conditioning session

  • check
    1 Full Body Conditioning session at the Fit Body Farm

    (15 time slots to choose from)

    Every muscle is tested at Obstacle Course Events and at these motivational sessions you’re guaranteed to see you’re overall strength and conditioning sky rocket so your body will stand up to any physical challenge.

1 Running session

  • check
    1 Running session at the Kay Park/Dean Park in Kilmarnock on a Monday or Wenesday night from 6.30pm – 7.30pm

    This is for all abilities as we’ll have 4 groups available from beginner through to advanced.

    At these sessions you’ll be coached on running further (beginners) or faster (advanced) and will include varied and creative interval sessions to keep the sessions fun.

    -If you want to get better at Obstacle Course Events then you need to include running in your training.

Really enjoy the team training beforehand... always fun & then the camaraderie on the day.. the friends & family 'are you mad?' The 'why am I doing this again?'. The best feeling in the world when you've done the event.. with that little bit of 'got to do another one because there was an obstacle or two I couldn't do and I'm going to be able to do that next time... thanks to Gavin & his training prep!

I love the challenge, team work and overall camaraderie - age, fitness and ability don't really matter. Everyone helps each other get through it physically and mentally. Plus it's just so much fun!

There's nothing like being told you shouldn't/couldn't/ why would you want to do something that makes it all the more appealing.

It's the sense of achievement, the license to get mucky and to do things you just don't get the chance to normally. I mean when was the last time most 'grown ups' slid down a fireman's pole, scared themselves a bit by going outside their comfort zones or flung one another over walls. The teamwork, the challenges and through it all how much everyone is smiling and enjoying themselves..can't wait until the next event!!

Camaraderie plays a big part of course and I also love the way you feel afterwards.

For example, I might have a few sleepless nights if an event is coming up but completing obstacle races (or just races) helps you stop worrying so much about not being able to do stuff.

You can look back and remember how you doubted yourself before, then did it and felt great!

For me it's the team work and doing something that's a bit different. It also gets the adrenaline pumping when an obstacle is a bit high or challenging and the sense of accomplishment when you have completed it. I also enjoy running about getting proper minging and muddy. Is the total opposite from having to be so professional and proper in my day to day job
